Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Giorgia Mancioppi, Founder of Giorgia fitMindset, LLC., located in Boulder, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Giorgia fitMindset is a fitness program that offers online, on-demand, and in-person sports conditioning workouts. GfM aims to motivate busy women to establish a long-lasting active routine that respects their personal body and mind needs. We offer a teaching program that gives everyday accountability and helps to create a great fitness structure and a coaching service that supports the students that want to work on more personal goals such as an active pregnancy, rehabilitation, athlete performance, and more.

All the workouts are total body and combinations of strength and cardio. GfM is a building-up program that runs in quadrimester, and every four months (Winter January - April, Summer May-August, and Fall September - December), we start at a low intensity to then upgrade to a high fitness level at the end of the quarter. Variety and fun are our cornerstones, and that's why we offer more than 90 different classes, weekly challenges, and in-person and outdoor workouts.

Giorgia fitMindset promotes holistic body and mind care, offering special "extra-care" workshops in order to empower all the students in their active routines. "Neck Gym," "Pelvic Floor - an Active prevention," and "Be Active in a busy mom life" are some of them. Last but not least, the GfM fitness routine is created to be efficient and effective from the comfort of our homes, with small equipment, but we really believe in the power of the community, and every second Saturday of the month, we get together to exercise, eat Italian food and talk. Giorgia fitMindset is more than a simple fitness program; it gives you the key to creating your own space for some good active self-care.

Tell us about yourself

Hello, this is Giorgia. I am originally from Italy, a former Judo athlete and ICU nurse, a mom of two, and now a fitness and judo coach and owner of Giorgia fitMindset. Giorgia fitMindset was born during the pandemic. When the first lockdown started, I was applying and studying to recognize my Italian nursing degree in the United States. I was ready to do my job and volunteer during the emergency, but they had never let me do what I was trained for. While I was stuck at home with a baby and a toddler, a friend asked for fitness help: "I am lost, I don't have a routine anymore, and I need to exercise to find myself again. Can we exercise together on zoom?" My answer was: "YEEES." We started to work out almost every day, there was not so much to do at that time, and week after week, more friends from all over the world joined. After several months, I started to share recordings with my Italian ex-colleagues that they were fighting the virus and needed a way to recharge their energy.

After several months, Giorgia fitMindset became a big active community, and in September 2020, I opened the LLC, and it became official. Since then, I have never looked back; I have been a coach and a leader since I started to do Judo and Giorgia fitMindset gives me the opportunity to combine my nursing knowledge with my experience and passion for the sport. The pandemic made me realize that very few people know how to lead an active lifestyle, even if, nowadays, everyone aims to be balanced and active. My everyday mission is to inspire people to move their bodies and create their own space where they can recharge their energy, relieve their stress, fight excesses, and feel good. Millions of people feel that they have to work out. My daily goal is to help them to find their comfort zone where working out becomes a necessity.

As a fitness teacher, I am good at creating and leading great workouts, and as an active coach, I love brainstorming with my students about their personal goals and setting personalized plans, strategies, and approaches to help them to achieve their own goals. Unfortunately, becoming "actively empowered" doesn't happen overnight, but it requires dedication, perseverance, commitment, and the strength to make some changes. Prioritizing and organization are the first skills that need to be incorporated, and sometimes it's not so easy to make that "click" on our own. That's why I am here to give everyday tips and lead my students through baby steps that will lead them to be active for real.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is to use all my skills, knowledge, and experience to share my wellness passion in a way that I believe can help people to feel better.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is being alone in everything. There are days that I would like to throw the hot potato to somebody else. However, I feel very lucky to have my students and the community that I have created because even if they are not former partners, they support me and my business every day.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in your ideas and yourself!
  2. In front of hard decisions, follow your gut!!
  3. Patience is the key!!!
