What's your business, and who are your customers?

Gifted & Thriving, LLC., provides resources and coaching services for families, schools, and communities working with neurodivergent individuals through one-to-one sessions, training, webinars, and conferences.

Tell us about yourself

I began working in the field of education more than two decades ago as a teacher and then as an administrator. I gravitated to the field of gifted/talented education due to the lack of comprehensive programming or support for these individual students. Then I had three neurodivergent children of my own. Bright kids with various issues such as ASD, anxiety, and sensory processing issues. I left the education industry a few years ago to start my own business supporting this population.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We ran our first international conference in 2021 and had an excellent experience. So much so that we are putting together another for Feb. 2023.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Keeping track of all the daily requirements, such as the finances.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient. It generally takes a few years to get established.
  2. Make sure you are prepared in every facet of the business before launching.
  3. Have fun. If you do not enjoy what you are doing, it won't last long.
