Getting Funneltastic with Liezl Swanson
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Liezl Swanson of Funneltastic based in Toronto, Canada.
What's your business and who are your customers?
I am a female owned and operated lead generation funnel builder and coach specializing in email and quiz funnels.
I built my business from the ground up starting very wide as a Virtual Assistant and eventually specializing in lead funnels because having a constant source of leads coming and being nurtured even while you're asleep is what every business owner needs.
Tell us about yourself
I left a promising career as a chef to travel the world and do what I never thought possible which is to run my own successful business online with no startup capital or formal training.
I've since visited 34+ countries while being a digital nomad and it motivates me to get up every morning and help other business owners do the same.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment in business will always be saying yes to my first client!
The guts that took is unbelievable and when they say the first step is the hardest, they definitely mean it. My second biggest accomplishment is spending 3 months in Mallorca this summer working from there and being able to enjoy life the way I had dreamed about when I first began this entrepreneurial journey.
Whenever I had a bad day I would recenter myself and say 'dude you're living your dream in Mallorca, you made it!'. It was a lovely treat on the end of 1.5 years stuck inside.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The daily rollercoaster is what makes being in business for yourself tough. It's hard to have perspective when you run the whole thing so any speed bump feels like a mountain.
What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First tip is to start. You can never improve on something that doesn't even exist yet so put your first draft out there. There's actually way less people watching and judging you than you think.
Two is start your dang email list!
Three is make yourself a schedule and stick to it. Discipline is key especially in the beginning.
