Tell us about yourself
I struggled a lot in school. I never quite fitfully in and never was an above-average student. But when I found myself starting Eckis Marketing for the first time, I remember feeling so in my zone. Something clicked. I live for that feeling. Not just serving my clients at my agency or helping others to feel better with Get Supr but that feeling of contributing to doing something for myself that benefits others.
I sometimes think like entrepreneurs; we find ourselves only looking at what's next instead of what's in front of us. I do this all of the time, but when it comes down to it - I do it because I enjoy and it brings me joy on top of supporting me.
The better part of entrepreneurship is when you realize you can be doing this with whatever makes you happy and fills you up whether it's helping me or providing a means for yourself. Entrepreneurship can be joyful and bring you the most happiness - if you let it.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been my business. They have been both a fruit of my own labor and also my greatest teachers. I have been able to grow both professionally and personally because of them, and for that, I am very proud.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Self-doubt. For me, it's trusting the confidence within myself and continuing to move forward, knowing that 'I got this even when things are tough or don't pan out the way I want them too. Being a business owner stretches you in many ways. A lot of the time, you have to have a lot of patience and understanding with yourself as you learn and grow.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't just jump - dive in. Be fully committed when you are starting.
- Blinders on - Focus on what you are doing and don't compare yourself to others.
- Give yourself some credit - we as entrepreneurs are extremely hard on ourselves. Know that what you are doing is incredible, and make sure to celebrate that!
