What's your business, and who are your customers?
I specialize in solar. My business is named Get Solar Jon. I am known to my clients as someone who is diligent, caring, and dedicated to providing exceptional service. I’m the type of person who is very involved in the entire process from start to finish. I’m also the type of person that stays in contact with my client to handle anything that may come up and handle all situations if any.
Tell us about yourself
What got me into the business is the opportunity here in Nevada and how beneficial it is to go solar. My parents had solar, and I have seen their power bill and was able to completely understand how it helps not only residential homeowners but also the environment as a whole.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is achieving some of my short-term goals for my family and having the freedom to spend time with them while being able to succeed and get wins on a weekly basis.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I’d say the hardest thing is getting people to understand the benefits of going solar. Especially here in Nevada. With all the quarterly rate increases, it baffles me that people would rather pay an unstable Nevada energy bill that will continue to rise as opposed to something that’s fixed and will never change and soon have an end date of payment where you will own your own power. I guess people, in general, are programmed to say “NO” even if I walked around and offered to give a $20 bill; there are those that will turn it down simply because they think there’s a catch?!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
You must learn about the business you want to get yourself into and understand what you are going to sacrifice in order to succeed. To run a business, you need to also look into the components that will help propel your company, i.e., social media, logo, website, location, and promotion(if any). And to grow your business, you also need to understand that in any business, you need to spend money to make money. Understand other companies who invest in growing their business, know who to hire, spend your money wisely, and maximize your dollar!
