What's your business, and who are your customers?
Genepro is the world's most scientifically backed protein on the planet, with over 50 clinical and published research papers. This totally flavorless protein line is perfect for anyone that needs extra protein in their diet.
Tell us about yourself
I created Genepro as my final project to receive my PHD in Genetic Bioscience. At first, we released the protein as the highest quality protein available to fitness enthusiasts. It didn't take long before Genepro began to gain traction in the medical field as bariatric patients started using it and the word spread quickly. Today Genepro is in over 600 hospitals, bariatric and cancer treatment facilities as well as dialysis clinics. Genepro is still a staple in the fitness industry but to see how this product has made a profound impact in the results that patients in medical need have had is what keeps me motivated to create new products and even look at new technologies and resources to improve the base proteins we currently have.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Genepro won the Life Science Award for Impact Product of the Year. We are the only nutrition company that has ever been nominated, no less win. This award is usually reserved for the big hitters in the pharmaceutical industry. For us, seeing an all-natural product take center stage and win over big pharma has been incredibly rewarding.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
For us, it's educating potential vendors and customers on the science behind Genepro and how life-changing this product is compared to any other protein supplement on the market. It's trying to make professionals "re-learn" everything they have been taught about protein and the hidden facts that the supplement industry has suppressed for years about the bioavailability of supplemental protein powders.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
If you have the desire and drive to do your own thing, go for it! If you don't dive in head first, you will fail. Give it your all, enjoy every little success, and learn from every little mistake. You will make mistakes, don't get frustrated or give up because of them. Learn and grow and be humble in your efforts. People will support real people chasing their dreams!
