Transform Through Mindful Presence - GB Life Coaching
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Denis Gorce-Bourge, Founder of GB Life Coaching Ltd., located in London, UK.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is about helping individuals and organisations. For individuals (private clients), I offer Life Coaching on all aspects of personal development as well as Energy Therapy (Reiki, Psych-K, and EFT). For organizations, I work as an Executive Coach, soft skills Trainer, Facilitator, and Senior Consultant in the field of mindful leadership, team cooperation, and how to build more “natural” and kind interactions between people. My favorite customers are the ones ready to go deeper. I like this quote saying: “to go higher, go deeper .”I am getting bored at the surface of things and love when people are ready to move to a new level, ready to question their ways, whether they are an organization or a private client.
Tell us about yourself
It took me years as a young man to identify what I really wanted to do. One day when I was about 28 or 29, the penny dropped, and it became obvious. I then started studying again, first NLP, then hypnosis, nonviolent communication, Transactional Analysis, and many other techniques in the field of personal development. At some point, it became obvious to go from being an employee to someone becoming my own boss. Being independent is not always the easiest but so rewarding in terms of freedom and fulfillment. I love to help people understand how much they can change in their lives when they start changing what they believe. My work is a passion and a life purpose, and I will do it as long as I can possibly can.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment has been to start from scratch, with no contacts, and to grow my business to an international level, working with fortune 500 companies around the world. I have been fortunate enough to travel the world for various organizations and to go to places I never imagined I would ever go. I am as well an author, and so far, I have published three books and numerous articles in the field of coaching and personal development.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing for me has probably been to not work harder but smarter. I was overwhelmed with all the notions of marketing, networking, and meeting people finally realized that it happens naturally when you are happy and open to people instead of making it a task. When you’re passionate, you find the right words to share your passion and make people want to work with you. I never sold anything but brought solutions to people’s problems and goals.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First, be bold. Don’t tell yourself it’s not going to work. If you are confident and humble at the same time, life helps you succeed and brings you opportunities you didn’t expect.
Second, look after yourself. It is very easy to forget yourself in the process and neglect your health and work-life balance.
Third, don’t try to be the provider for everything in your field. Be specific, clear, and precise about what you offer. Find your USP. The more specific you are, the less competition you get. You only need “the right clients” and not all the clients to do a successful business.
