What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is named Gardens of Asgard & I grow, gather & create herbal remedies from the Mythic Forests & Gardens of the North. My amazing customers are those looking for non-toxic, forest-to-face skincare and other herbal remedies for what ails them.

Tell us about yourself

After studying alternative medicine in college & working on a horse-powered vegetable farm, I knew I wanted to be (quite literally) in the field. An herbal apprenticeship gave me direction as my world opened to the magic of medicinal herbs, the joy of growing them & the incredible healing benefits they offer us.

I'm motivated each day by the profound gifts these plants have to offer & the tremendous value they bring into our lives. It wasn't that long ago in human history that we relied on traditional herbal remedies as medicine. Receiving feedback from my customers that a simple remedy I made has brought them significant & often life-changing relief is the greatest feeling. There is so much healing needed in today's world, and it's really an honor to bring these old, traditional remedies back to the people.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'd say my biggest accomplishment has been the number of people I've been able to reach & help since starting this business only two years ago. It's very humbling, and I am so grateful for my customers.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, one of the hardest things is definitely time management! I would spend all day in the gardens or my Apothecary creating herbal remedies if I could. However, it's important (but not as fun) to make time for all the behind-the-scenes computer work & organization that goes into running a business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, just get started wherever you are! If you're passionate about something, don't let fear & analysis paralysis get the best of you. Get clear from the beginning of what you are offering, who your ideal customer is & find your niche! Come up with a solid business plan so that you can create the structure and growth you want to see.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I make these products using the traditional methods of my Nordic ancestors & many of my products are inspired by Norse Mythology. I hope that these remedies can weave together the old world & the new so that we can remember who we are & all our earth has to offer us.
