Self-Worth and Power - Galeria Estima Fitness & Yoga

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fitness and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Brandi Stiles, owner of Galeria Estima Fitness & Yoga, located in Salmon Arm, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Galeria Estima Fitness & Yoga is a boutique fitness studio located in the heart of Salmon Arm providing a space where clients come to achieve physical, emotional, and mental strength & well-being.

Galeria Estima translates to Esteem Gallery and is my goal to reconnect all my clients with a true deep feeling of self-worth and power. Galeria provides a variety of small group fitness classes focussing on cardiovascular fitness, strength, mobility, full-body motions, and flexibility (Oh and handstands! Everyone does handstands or some variation!). One on One Personal training provides a private environment to hone in on each clients' specific needs and aspirations. Yoga classes provide the opportunity to slow down, connect and find peace and solace from the fast-paced life we all seem to be leading.

My customers are of all ages and abilities with all kinds of goals. Galeria provides a safe place where people can come to achieve greatness without the worry of body image, size, or shape stopping them from trying amazing things. My goal is for every person who walks into Galeria Estima to connect with the strongest version of themselves and realize how much strength we all possess. Now is always the best time to be your best!

Tell us about yourself

My name is Brandi Stiles, and I have been sharing my love for health, fitness, and self-improvement for over 25 years around the globe. I attained my Diploma in Exercise Science in New Zealand, which provided me with a great wealth of knowledge in my field training clients in Wellington. I later moved to London, England, to continue my journey working with clients and expanded into Yoga by taking my Yoga Teacher Training. As a result of this, I began to run Fitness and Yoga retreats in Spain, providing clients with an experience that was rich in health and fitness alongside beautiful visits to markets, beaches, and hikes. After these beautiful experiences, I moved to Spain and taught yoga on the beach and in hotels.

Now I find myself here in Salmon Arm with my dream studio that will this year expand to offering retreats here to highlight the beauty of our region. Every day I am motivated by my opportunity to create change for my clients, knowing that no matter how they feel walking into the studio, they will feel stronger, happier, and more capable when they leave. I am also motivated by my wondrous daughter, Jasmine, to role model for her what a woman can do and how we can achieve what we set out to with hard work and perseverance.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I feel my biggest accomplishment as a business owner is surviving COVID, keeping the doors open, then reopening them after two shutdowns only to expand and grow in this time. To maintain my own health practices during times of so much uncertainty, I can provide motivation, love, and care to all my clients who need it more than ever.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is that your income can be so variable. In my industry, sometimes the training and classes are the first things to be cut from a budget during hard times, even if that is when people need it the most. My schedule is dependent very much on people showing up for themselves repeatedly. It is my job to motivate them to do so and let them see my belief in them so they can see it in themselves and keep self-care as a priority.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be ready to pivot; what you start out doing can easily evolve into something else that could end up being amazing even if it was not the original plan.
  2. Work hard, work hard, work hard. There is no secret other than time, hard work, and passion.
  3. Do Not Give up....the result or success may not come exactly when you think it will, but stay the course, and you cannot fail. It is the premise that guarantees success with fitness, strength, and well-being, as it does with business. Keep getting up, keep going and do it with love for your craft.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Galeria Estima is excited to continue to welcome new practitioners with varying modalities such as Crystal Singing Bowls Meditation, Yoga, and seminars to become a hub of health and wellness, which is the greatest currency of all....feeling great!

Galeria Estima is also excited to announce that by mid-April, we will have a Finnish sauna on-site to offer another great modality to bring us all to greater well-being!
