Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in finance but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Gabe Nelson, founder of Gabe Nelson Financial, Inc., located in Sioux Falls, SD, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help solopreneurs master their finances so that they can create the life they want.
Tell us about yourself
I started Gabe Nelson Financial, Inc, an independent financial advisory firm, after having been in the industry for 13 years to take control of how I served my clients and create the life that I wanted.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating a very successful advisory firm from scratch.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Deciding where to spend your time. There are so many things that need to be done, and it can be very hard to waste time on unproductive tasks, especially in the beginning.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Focus on your ideal clients.
- Don't compromise on pricing.
- Make sure to separate personal and business accounts and expenses.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Plan for taxes and building wealth outside of your business. Way too many solos forget these. Most solos will not have a business to sell when they are ready to retire. They need to plan to build outside of the business.
