What's your business, and who are your customers?
Fueling Up Our Future was founded by two Registered Dietitians who have a passion for bringing science-based nutrition education to the community and inspiring lifelong healthy habits. We provide fun interactive nutrition programs for children and incorporate our blender bike into a variety of events. Our mission is to give the future generation the knowledge and confidence to make healthy choices while enjoying all types of food!
Tell us about yourself
Both Sara and I volunteered in a variety of child-based nutrition programs while earning our degrees at Madonna University. We grew to love educating kids from all backgrounds and saw a need to continue our work once we entered the workforce. We are motivated by the energy and curiosity children have to learn and grow.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our biggest accomplishment is seeing the smiles on children's faces as we host our nutrition programs and hearing positive feedback from parents. For example, many parents have mentioned that their kids are now excited to try new foods at home!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The unknown. When we started our business, we needed to test out different nutrition programs and events to offer. We had to be very flexible and open to trying new things and ideas. We didn't have a similar business to benchmark, so there was a lot of trial and error.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be flexible.
- Create unique content and education opportunities.
- Maintain a personal touch.
