Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Shanon Safi, Owner of Fuel the Fire, located in Allentown, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Fuel the Fire is a coaching business designed for individuals to reconnect their mind, body, soul, and spirit. We integrate various health & wellness practices to deliver a service that allows the individual to step into their highest self. The focus of programs is around emotional processing and integration practices. We help our clients overcome emotional eating, disconnection, depression, physical pain, and stagnation. Clients move through our programs and achieve self-love, a renewed sense of purpose in life, confidence, deeper connection, longevity, joy, and much more. We foster a community to allow for growth and true friendship.

Tell us about yourself

I graduated with my bachelor of science in dietetics and pre-medicine with the intention to pursue medical school. I actually dropped out of the medical school program before I began because I realized how passionate I was about holistic health and counseling. I began my career as a registered dietitian doing private practice. After 8 years in the counseling sphere, I realized how detrimental unprocessed emotions are to the health and longevity of men and women. The best results came from a whole-person approach to health. Our body systems are all connected, so we can't isolate and treat just one part. Initially, the business offered nutrition counseling, personal training, and meal prep classes. But, now, the business has evolved into a holistic coaching program that incorporates holistic health counseling, emotional processing, Buti yoga, and intuitive cooking. Services are available online and in person.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I am proud to have made the transition from the beginning stages of the business and evolving it into something that has created life-long change in clients. I consider myself a lifelong student that will always treat my clients like family. The connections our members have created, and the love that we all share are something I am so grateful for.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being able to walk with faith that the right people will find your message and you will be able to live out your purpose. You have to let go of your ego and lead with your soul. A lot of emotions come up, and things are never consistent, but you have to learn to let go of those fears that are limiting you and stopping you from serving others.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Lead with love.
  2. Never let money come before people.
  3. Have a coach to help you overcome the limiting beliefs that will continue to pop up throughout the stage of your evolution as a business owner.
