What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a full-time speaker and training /consultant in the areas of ethics and values-based leadership development. Seeing as I worked to niche my topics rather than markets, I'm in dozens of markets, Healthcare, Finance, Insurance, Health care, Higher Ed, Associations, etc.
Tell us about yourself
My 1st career was teaching Moral Theology for about 18 years. I decided to "de-theologize" my training and go into Ethics. Having no experience in the business world, I have no niche, so I decided to niche the topic. I just started my 35 years as a full-time speaker, trainer, and consultant.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being self-employed for 35 years.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Explaining and charging what I am worth. However, 83% of my business is repeat and referral. So it must be working.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know your expertise.
- Always study your topic and its applicability.
- Be grateful for the gift you have, the people who mentored you along the way, and the openness to help others.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
It took me five years to become an" overnight success!" Believe in yourself, your message, and its application to the betterment of those you serve.
