What's your business, and who are your customers?
My services focus on Food photography and Videography for restaurants and food businesses in general in New York City and the Tri-State area.
Tell us about yourself
I was born and raised in Rome, spent many years in Sweden, where I had a career in Engineering. I fell in love with New York at the same time as I fell in love with Photography and decided to quit my job and move to New York in 2011. I'm a very visual person, and I have two major professional passions that drive me: creating visual content that I love and teaching Food Photography.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to phase out my very successful career in engineering and create a brand new, very successful professional career in food photography. And doing that in New York, probably the most competitive arena in the world.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Dealing with aspects of my business that have nothing to do with my passions, such as admin work, marketing, etc.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If what you do is your passion, make sure you constantly fuel your passion.
- If you're in the service business, make sure you always keep in mind your role is to SERVE your clients with what they need and not necessarily what you think they should do. Don't let your ego control you.
- Be ready to spend a LOT of time dealing with aspects that have nothing to do with your passion. If you just are not capable of doing that, that's fine, but make sure you can outsource that part to others.
