Fort Worth's Best 24/7 Gym - Fort Worth Barbell
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Gerardo Lira, co-owner of Fort Worth Barbell, located in Fort Worth, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Hello, My partner Roy and Myself a 24/7 access gym. We have over 300 members who are now enrolled with us, working on their fitness goals.
Tell us about yourself
I’m a father of 2 boys. I was partying and drinking a lot in my early 20s and needed an exit. Fitness became that exit, and every day is consistent, but when motivation turns off, I have to turn to discipline.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to provide a bigger facility for more people. We have grown from a 4500 sq. ft. building (plumbing issues, roof leak issues, etc.) to a 20,000 sq. ft. building. It’s a true blessing.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing is when you have bad days; you have to learn to adapt your mind and know even though it’s a bad day, it’s not a bad life. That’s why I love doing what I do.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Keep going. Don’t stop what you started. Wake up every day on time.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Business should motivate you to push yourself when no one else pushes you. No one claps for you; no one tells you a great job on your work. So when you can adapt your mind sometimes to congratulate yourself and take a day off every once in a while, you’ll be ok.
