What's your business, and who are your customers?
At Focus and Bloom Studios, I'm passionate about helping coaches, educators, and creative service-based entrepreneurs how to launch and grow a profitable and purpose-driven brand online through podcasting and content creation, so they can amplify their influence and message.
Tell us about yourself
After teaching various photography, film, and graphic design courses at top universities in Puerto Rico and running programs in Panama, Iceland, Morocco, and Spain, I realized that in order to build authentic connections, you need to show up as you, so you can truly shine and step into your awesome.
I moved 3000 miles away from home with one camera and one heavy suitcase filled with dreams. Since then, I've built a business that has allowed me to create a life with purpose and joy.
In 2017, I decided to photograph weddings, and with that, I was able to quit my 9-5 and grow my photography business, only to have it completely shift and pivot in 2020.
As I pivoted away from photography into something different, I kept one thing present: that is to build something that will make a difference.
Now, I help creative business owners just like you to launch and grow a podcast so you can make an impact and a difference with your voice and your message.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment would be being able to work on projects that allow me to connect with and help people in Puerto Rico, even if it's from a behind-the-scenes standpoint. This was a goal of mine in college that no matter where I lived in the world, I would still be doing something that would allow me to remain connected to my roots.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is dealing with imposter syndrome. It's easy to feel discouraged when starting out and even when you have several years in business. Knowing that we are not alone in this entrepreneurial journey is important.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My top 3 tips for anyone looking to start, run and grow a (profitable) business today are:
- Just start. Imperfect action is better than no action.
- Trust in yourself, and follow your purpose. This includes setting your boundaries and allowing time for self-care.
- Celebrate ALL your wins, even if they are "small." Small wins lead to big wins!
