What's your business, and who are your customers?
Flourish With Tracy is a wellness advocacy business. I am a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, Plant-based Nutrition Coach, and Yoga/Meditation Teacher. I provide tools to implement well-being by offering coaching, instruction, and guidance to transition or facilitate a healthy lifestyle. I help people change poor eating habits, lose weight, improve movement and physicality, and reduce stress.
Although my business helps groups and individuals of all ages, my primary customers are women who are stressed, sedentary, over desired weight, ages 40-55 who need to increase their physical movement, reduce their stress, reduce their weight, and improve how, when, why, and what they eat. My business uniquely meets their needs by creating, facilitating, and coaching lifestyle transformation through tailored plans designed specifically for each client integrating nutrition/meal prep and planning, motivation, weight management, yoga, guided meditation, and mindfulness techniques.
Flourish With Tracy helps people eat better, live better, and move better. Flourish With Tracy also provides motivational, health education, well-being, and wellness advocacy presentations and programs for corporate wellness initiatives. This is executed virtually through individual coaching sessions, group, personal, or pre-recorded yoga and/or meditation sessions, and group wellness workshops.
Tell us about yourself
I started this business after I saw the need to help people achieve wellness increase during the pandemic. I had been doing this work compassionately as a volunteer for ten years. I decided to expand from inspirational support to the implementation of integrated and holistic well-being programs.
I understood the struggle. I experienced it, I lived it, and I overcame it. I was a stressed executive, struggling with work-life balance, poor food choices, low energy levels, not feeling good, outside of a healthy weight range, and diseased. This led to various ailments. I needed to take back my health. I applied 30+ years of corporate and personal change management experience to create a transformation plan for myself.
Advocating for my own health led to a series of changes that completely transformed my life and understanding of wellness. I began to thrive and flourish, overcoming my "health drainers." I soon began to receive compliments on how healthy I looked as I reversed every ailment and removed my stress. “As you care, share, as you receive, give.” This mantra helped me realize that I am and have been able to successfully coach others with similar stories to transform and change their narratives from feeling out of sorts and poorly to feeling better, content, and well, embracing a new, vibrant, healthy, balanced, and grounded life. I am inspired when people I engage with are able to make positive differences in their lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been to help three individual clients shed weight, losing over 100 pounds each. One year later, all three have continued to maintain a healthy lifestyle, using the tools I provided during our sessions, keeping the weight off, taking time for self-care, and eating healthy. Each of these clients has indicated that they feel their lives have changed for the better.
I am proud that my business is flexible, being able to create tailored plans to meet the needs of individuals via personal coaching or large corporate groups. I am also very proud to have contracted with a corporate client to provide weekly mindfulness, stress reduction, meditation, and yoga for their employees.
In 2021, I was honored to present three (3) interactive motivational workshops, “Finding Balance – How to Stay Motivated & Incorporate Personal Symmetry,” to help the people navigate "newly working remote from home" during the pandemic. I am proud that I am considered a subject matter expert by peers as I've been invited to present, speak and participate in written work publications, podcasts, summits, or collaborative presentations. I’ve been able to secure testimonials from these clients. It feels good to have tangible “make a difference” moments and success stories to present to share.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
My biggest obstacle and challenge is letting potential clients know I exist, to effectively message, implement and market my brand to increase exposure and attract new customers and clients.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do something you love that you are passionate about. Work that is meaningful to you will be your base, foundation, and motivation. It will become your “why” you are doing what you do.
- Believe in yourself. If you can believe it, you can achieve it. Visualize yourself doing it. Look at what steps you need to get there. Put action items around those steps and then create a plan to implement the actions. Be it research, education, fundraising, materials, writing a business plan, establishing milestones, etc.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Leave your ego at the door and be open to asking or receiving help to get started or support. You can volunteer or apprentice, get a mentor, join a networking group, hire a consultant, etc. You are never alone – support is always available.
