Keeping Brands At Forefront Of Possibilities - Flight Story

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business solutions but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Oliver Yonchev, CEO & Co-Founder of Flight Story, located in London, England, UK.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Flight Story is an innovative marketing and consulting company with four key divisions: marketing, data & technology, content, and media. We have also launched several proprietary data, talent, and tech products within our walls - including Flight Deck, the analytics tool measuring the impact of social conversations on stock price, and Flight Talent, a talent acquisition platform and community. We work with companies and industries that are looking to be at the forefront of what’s possible, with a primary focus on disruptive brands, emerging technologies, and the finance industry.

Tell us about yourself

For over a decade, I have worked in the digital, social, and creative services and have supported some of the world’s most successful brands to help understand the growing and important role of the ever-changing digital landscape - including Apple, Coca-Cola, TikTok, and Amazon, to name a few. In December 2021, I launched Flight Story with my Co-Founder, Steven Bartlett. Following our time together at Social Chain, we realised the opportunity to accelerate the next generation of brands by leveraging our expertises in capitalising on the evolving tech landscape with innovative marketing strategies.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

A reflection of any company is fostering a vibrant company culture with a passionate team that experiments, raises the bar, and isn’t afraid to try new ways of working. I believe our success will be defined ultimately by the first 100 people that represent the business.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest yet most interesting aspect that comes with being a business owner is uncertainty. Ultimately, when driving a young company, you have to be comfortable when going through periods of uncertainty and be able to turn this into a positive force.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  • Firstly, I would highlight that you are defined by your people, so investing as much time and energy into making sure you are continually creating an environment and community where people look forward to coming to work is crucial.
  • Reflecting back on uncertainty, my second tip would be to expect it and embrace it.
  • Lastly, I’d say business success comes from two places: having big, audacious goals whilst also focusing on the small, incremental actions which lead to better outcomes.
