What's your business, and who are your customers?

Fit & Green Wellness offers a holistic perspective on wellness through plant-based nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle coaching. I am a Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant, and my clients desire to empower their mind and body to sustain a healthy life!

Tell us about yourself

I spent 20 years in corporate roles, including client relationships, business sales, and leadership at large global companies. During that time, I managed a demanding career, business travel, and home life as a mother of two boys. Learning the importance of my personal well-being as it relates to both nutrition and fitness was critical to building and sustaining a healthy lifestyle.

In 2001, at age 21, I became a vegetarian, and through years of trying to maintain a healthy eating pattern, I experienced optimal results when I was most intentional about my nutritional intake and noticed the difference in how I felt when I was not. In 2020, I celebrated my 40th birthday, transitioned to a 100% plant-based eating pattern, and spent time educating myself on the benefits. I greatly improved my fitness, energy level, and health outlook.

In 2022 I left the corporate world and made the decision to use my talents and energy towards helping others to gain a fresh perspective on building the life they desire to lead and founded Fit & Green Wellness in September 2022. What motivates me every day is my natural drive to help and support others in a simplified and holistic way to live a healthy and fulfilled life. I love seeing the results and celebrating the success of others!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Publishing and sharing my blog posts consistently is a big win for me, and it is important to connect with my readers and clients in a meaningful way. I share my writing across various topics, for example, the importance of physical activity, what to do when transitioning to a plant-based diet, how to manage stress, and how to use the skills of a "life-long learner" to make a lifestyle change.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The most challenging part of owning a business is learning where to spend your time and stay productive and effective while wearing multiple "hats."

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Educate yourself about the market or industry you are entering, do your research, stay current, and learn from others.
  2. Stay balanced. Your business may be your passion, but you still need to make time and create space for yourself. You can't run at 100% 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or you will burn out!
  3. Stay focused on what makes your offering unique and align that with your audience, clients' or customers' needs.
