What's your business, and who are your customers?

We provide mortgage financing for clients looking to purchase homes, restructure debt, invest in real estate, or plan for retirement with a reverse mortgage.

Tell us about yourself

I started in the lending business 30 years ago. I worked for banks and mortgage bankers over the years. I believed there was a better way to provide a great customer experience, so a partner and I joined together to form First Choice Mortgage Advisors, LLC in 2018.

Our reviews show the results. Our clients never feel left out of the process. They feel heard and cared for. The idea is to take the stress out of the largest financial decision they will make.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The best compliment I get is when we get to a settlement, and my clients say, "Is that it?" The process of getting a mortgage loan has a reputation as a stressful, arduous event. When I hear, "is that it?" I know we've done our job and exceeded the expectations of the client. They expected stress and angst. We give them peace of mind.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Building the right team and making sure everyone has the same commitment to serving our clients. Then, once building the team, keeping the team together. Our business is feast or famine based on rates. The expansion/contraction of our industry is tricky to navigate.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Do what you do best and hire or sub out everything else.
