What's your business, and who are your customers?
My mission with Firm Learning is to help early- to mid-career professionals to succeed at work. On my YouTube channel, "Firm Learning" I offer regular educational videos for my audience. In addition, I offer corporate training on subjects such as Communications, Slide Writing, and Problem-Solving. To date, Firm Learning delivered 50+ corporate training sessions over the last three years. If you are an ambitious professional working in Industry or Professional Services, Firm Learning will likely be able to add value for you.
Tell us about yourself
After working at McKinsey for six years, I transitioned into a C-level role in Industry. Due to the additional time I had available, I started the YouTube channel "Firm Learning" in early 2020. What motivates me most are the messages I receive almost every day on Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok from members of the Firm Learning audience, sharing with me how Firm Learning helped them reach their professional goals.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
In parallel to a regular full-time job, I created the Firm Learning platform with 300k+ followers across social media platforms to date. When I started Firm Learning in 2020, I would never have imagined the impact we would be able to bring to the business world. I am very proud of what the Firm Learning community has accomplished since then.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Being a business owner can be very rewarding but a lot of work at the same time. Balancing professional commitments with your family life and other social priorities is not always easy and is definitely one of the hardest things.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Great things happen to people who show up. If you want to start a business and transform the lives of your customers and of yourself, you need to start to take action right now. Too many people are victims of analysis paralysis, thinking they can only start a business if they have a perfect idea and already have everything figured out. This is not the case. Start today, and figure it out along the way.
