Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in safety equipment but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jake Cordle, Owner and CEO of Fire & EMS, LLC., located in Douglasville, GA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a fire equipment and Emergency Medical Services supply company. Our goal is the integrate Fire and EMS together in an effort to help departments source the things they need in one place without having to source it through multiple vendors. Our customers are firefighters, fire departments, Ambulance services, and the military.
Tell us about yourself
I have a background in the fire service. My co-owner and I were working with his marketing company, and we wanted to diversify our portfolios. He suggested that we do something that related to what we had done in Fire years, the fire service, so Fire & EMS, LLC. was formed.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment so far has been making it through the cycle and over the hump of what do I do, how do I do it, making mistakes, thinking what have I got myself into, and then finally getting that feeling that it’s all coming together.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Time management. Starting off, we have just myself and my wife. We are doing all the procurement of products, loading to the website, setting prices, ordering, accounting, marketing, writing social media posts, talking with customers, and chasing down leads.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Learn everything you can about digital marketing, including SEO, Google Ads, and Social Media ads. Get a great accountant. And lastly, provide great customer service.
