What's your business, and who are your customers?

I've created a sustainable and community-minded salon for hairstyles and clients to feel nurtured and cared for. If you are looking for great, everyday hair in a conscious space, we welcome you.

Tell us about yourself

I've always been fascinated by business and the many facets that come with creating something and making it work. What I have fallen in love with is the opportunity to affect and change other people's lives every day!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We've become a role model for the industry, encouraging change in being a social and environmental enterprise. I'm proud that I've been able to create a space that both my team and clients want to come to and look forward to having a chat with me.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The amount of responsibility you take on, for the livelihood of my team, financially for oneself, the many hats you were, and creating a work-life balance while maintaining friendships.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be crazy in love with your why.
  2. Understand your numbers.
  3. Document your systems/ processes so that they can be duplicated.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Owning and growing a business is a lot, and it doesn't ever just settle. Having a support system to fall on when you need a boost would be helpful; whether that's people, activities, or a space, that part is up to you.
