More Beautiful With Time - Fewer Finer
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in jewelry but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Madison Snider, founder, and owner of Fewer Finer, located in Brooklyn, NY, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Fewer Finer is a fine jewelry company that specializes in high-end pieces for everyday wear. The brand is broken into three parts - the Signature Collection, the Vintage Collection, and Custom Work. The Signature Collection includes pieces designed by myself and produced by hand in New York City's Diamond District. The Vintage Collection is made up of vintage jewelry and watches, all of which I hand select and which are meant to complement the Signature Collection. Custom work includes renovating heirloom pieces, creating new heirloom-worthy pieces from scratch, and custom engagement rings. We are passionate about making and collecting jewelry that our clients feel strongly connected to!
Tell us about yourself
I have been in the jewelry business for three years. I always loved delicate gold jewelry and often thought about pieces I would make it I started my own line. At one point, I just decided to do it! I have learned so much from the industry experts we partner with and have loved bringing a non-jewelry background, which is much less common in this industry, to my business. I have loved building relationships with our clients, being a part of people's most special memories and occasions, and growing a brand I am so excited about!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Building a team and a business that supports many craftspeople and contractors have been the highlights of my career thus far as a business owner.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
For me, it has changed over the course of the entrepreneurial endeavor. First, it was generating brand awareness, then it was work-life balance, and now it is establishing process.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Trust your gut - You certainly know more than you think you do.
- Have fun - otherwise, what is the point!
- Hire great people, and don't drag your feet on it - We usually think we need to hire someone once we're already in need of them.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
The best part of being an entrepreneur, for me, is the relationships it allows me to have, make, and retain. This is so important to remember when the weight of being a business owner feels heavy. Make sure to prioritize this and remember that it is likely a big reason why you chose to be the boss in the first place!
