What's your business, and who are your customers?
FertilityFAM is my Fertility Awareness and Holistic Reproductive Health education platform. I support people in learning all about their menstrual and ovulatory cycles in order to avoid or achieve pregnancy without nasty side effects, optimize their hormone health, and feel prepared with practical plans to manage any situation that may arise across the womb continuum. This includes but is not limited to what to do if you have an “accidental sperm exposure” and how to navigate fertility obstacles when trying to conceive.
Tell us about yourself
I first got into this work through my own journey to find a natural option to avoid pregnancy and a way to get to the root cause of my debilitating period symptoms after being on the pill for more than ten years to manage said symptoms. I’m also an occupational therapist, so it felt like a naturally relatable space to explore that field. OT is all about supporting people to be as independent as possible in their daily self-care and meaningful activities. What could be more relatable than independently managing our fertility?! I currently work with people 1:1 and have an incredibly exciting group program that starts December 15, where I will also have guest speakers from other adjacent fields, including a pelvic floor therapist, an acupuncturist, herbalists, and abortion/pregnancy loss doulas.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Taking the leap of faith away from full-time employment to pursue this important and exciting work for which I’m so passionate!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Getting the word out and filling courses/offerings. My business is still super new, so I know this will get better. I’ve been enjoying networking with other amazing practitioners in order to build strong community and referral sources so we can all succeed and support more people!
