What's your business, and who are your customers?
Feral Fungi is a health and wellness company focused on producing the highest quality mushroom and herbal supplements. We source 100% fruit bodies in the United States and process them in our lab in Estacada, OR. Our customers are folk looking to optimize their health with sustainably and ethically sourced mushrooms and herbs. Our extraction process lends itself to a more potent and higher-quality extract.
Tell us about yourself
Feral Fungi arose out of what I call AlcheMycology - looking at fungi through the lens of traditional Hermetic Alchemy. From philosophy to practice which leans on a long tradition of extraction methods and techniques. I explored the topic for many years and taught both philosophy as well as extraction methods before starting Feral Fungi in 2017. My driving goal has been rooted in creating extracts in the supplement industry with complete transparency. I have long felt like the supplement industry is largely a race to the bottom, and we look to subvert that with every extract.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment to this point has been to grow the company to the point it has while maintaining integrity in every part of our process, from sourcing to processing. The drive that keeps me going is the positive feedback we get from the folks who have used our extracts and noted improved quality of life.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I started the business with a passion for fungi and natural medicine. From my perspective, the hardest part of owning a business has been learning the ropes of how to effectively run a business and dealing with the ins and outs of the clerical work that comes with it.
