Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey by launching a wellness business but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lisa Dahl. She is a certified intuitive eating and body image health coach from Massachusetts, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an Intuitive Eating and Body Image Health Coach. My customers are women who are ready to ditch the diet, as I am an UNDiet Expert. Readers would want to support me because I can teach them how to Discover Food Freedom and Body Peace in a world filled with diet culture and misinformation. I give women the tools to listen, trust and respect their bodies so they can be happy, healthy, and confident at any size.
Tell us about yourself
At the age of 12, I Unknowingly was indoctrinated into diet culture and began my 40+ year battle with dieting, self-worth, and body image. At the age of 50, when I made a career change from catering, I thought I was already a dieting expert; with a health and wellness certification, I could help women lose weight. I discovered that I had my disordered eating challenges, and just because it has been normalized, it didn’t make me healthy mentally or physically. I was stressed every day is weighing myself, and now more stressed feeling the anxiety from my clients on the days they needed to “share their progress.” Through my love of learning, I discovered HAES® (Health At Every Size), which led me to the practice of Intuitive Eating, a non-diet approach to health and wellness. I have since healed my disordered eating and now have the privilege of working with women to help them find body peace and food freedom.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I know that I am making a difference in women's lives and helping them improve their relationships with food and their bodies. It is a life-changing experience.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Marketing!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Build a foundation, slow and steady.
Work with a marketing expert from the beginning - get a plan!
What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance?
Movement is a priority. My partner, dog, and I hike together three days a week, and I do my own thing on the remaining days. We have family meals and cook together every night. . We live on a beautiful pond in nature which we enjoy, and I practice living gratefully. Learning to help to create balance.
