What's your business, and who are your customers?

Family Travel Magazine is an independent online magazine that has been inspiring families to travel since 2011. It is focused on making family travel accessible – whether it's taking a cruise with the whole family, touring National Parks, or visiting theme parks. We offer tips and reviews to make traveling with family easier and more enjoyable.

Tell us about yourself

I've always loved traveling and writing, so this was a natural way to combine my interests. Travel writing is a great way for me to help families enjoy their limited vacation time together by offering tips and reviews to help them maximize their vacation.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I feel the most accomplished when I hear from a reader that they were able to use my advice in their travels.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Working online means that you are often isolated. It can be tough to stay behind the computer most of the time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start out organized, especially when it comes to your finances.
  2. Know when to get help, whether it's from a bookkeeper, a social media manager, or someone else.
  3. Be disciplined in working, especially if it isn't your main job.
