What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our business is called Fairy Yard Mothers. We set up celebration lawn signs for every occasion. We cater to a wide variety of customers who want to celebrate any occasion in a big fun way, such as birthdays, anniversaries, retirement, graduation, new baby, new home, and holidays.

Tell us about yourself

Our names are Jessica and Paola, and we are the Fairy Yard Mothers. Not only are we sisters, but we are also Moms to 3 beautiful little girls. We both live in the wonderful community of Binbrook, Ontario, and we're lucky to live down the street from each other. Family is very important to both of us, so living close to each other is a blessing.

We are both creative entrepreneurs who have embarked on our own separate endeavors. We have since brought our passion for design and crafting together to celebrate in a BIG new way. We are incredibly blessed by the support we have received since we opened in July of 2020. It has been so much fun and rewarding being a part of so many occasions.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

A few of the accomplishments we've achieved since we started in July of 2020 is having the opportunity to be a part of many charity events such as Bright Run, Autism Awareness, and Cystic Fibrosis. We were also featured on our local news station CHCH Morning Live.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is managing work-life balance and being unable to meet the high demand from our customers despite our best efforts.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a plan.
  2. Don't be afraid to take risks and step out of your comfort zone.
  3. Love what you do, and you'll never "work" a day in your life.
