Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in clothing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Andrew Ramelb, Co-Owner of FAEK Brand, located in Honolulu, HI, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are in the streetwear business, and our target customers are young adults.
Tell us about yourself
My partner, Franz Huerbana, and I came up with our concept “FAEK” in 2008. It is a play on the word “fake,” with the definition being “the new real.” What motivates us is the love of our customers. They provide positive feedback with each new design release, and it drives us to continue to deliver quality products.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The longevity. To have made it this far and become one of the top street brands in Hawaii is a blessing.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
There are seasons when we are not sure of how to market certain releases. All in all, we continue to find ways and persevere.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Believe in your vision. Don’t start anything you wouldn’t place a large amount of money on.
- Don’t give up. The first years will test you. Keep going, and soon enough, people will notice and appreciate your efforts.
- Build a strong team. No one does it alone. Every great business is built by a group of great minds that constantly collaborate on ideas.
