What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a music producer, audio engineer, and educator. Currently, my work is split into two categories. The first deals directly with producing and working with artists, helping them craft records they are proud to share. The other involves helping other producers through my YouTube channel, where I teach music production.

Tell us about yourself

I've loved music and music production for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until 2017 that I had the opportunity to do it full-time. Shortly after going self-employed, I began posting videos to a newly created YouTube channel initially intended to market my freelance business. Eventually, though, that became more of an educational endeavor as I began to teach other aspiring producers how to produce their own music.

Today I am a full-time music producer and Youtuber. During the week, you can find me in my Tampa studio, either working on my next YouTube video, music for clients, or music for myself. I am continuously motivated and inspired by the many people I help through music. Nothing is more rewarding than helping others achieve their goals and share their music with the world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think this is where I'm supposed to list awards and accolades, but honestly, my biggest accomplishment will always be being able to wake up, create music, and help others do the same.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Believing in yourself and your vision even when others don't, and having enough perseverance to adjust after setbacks. There is always some nuance, but I genuinely believe in unapologetically going after what you believe in. If you approach your goal with a solid plan and determination and adjust after each failure (because you will fail), you're bound to get some results.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Research your industry, niche down, and get really clear on who you are serving and their pain points. This is the only way to help people achieve meaningful results.
Don't be afraid to fail because that's part of the process. Every setback is an opportunity to learn, grow and approach a situation with a better perspective. Analyze what went wrong, adjust, and keep pushing.
Start a Youtube channel. It is an incredible resource to skyrocket your impact and business.
