Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Yaser Moharam, Founder of Excedify, located in Coburg, Bavaria, Germany.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Excedify produces and hosts high-quality and engaging online courses in engineering and management. Our customers are professionals looking to improve their careers with a learning experience they can enjoy.
Tell us about yourself
We, the three co-founders, are mechanical engineers in the automotive industry in Germany. Through university and work, we realized how much we depended on Youtube videos to learn complex engineering concepts. Books are good, but a video can explain a process visually in a way no textbook can achieve. That is how we realized that the future of engineering education is online courses.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The most tremendous success is the first sale. Before the first sale, all the work you have invested is uncertain. All the investments we made and the endless hours we put into the content, the design, the website, and the marketing were always fraught with uncertainty and doubt, but the moment I received the email that said, "You've received money," it all made sense. At that moment, you know that your work is meaningful and leads to positive results. That moment was the most significant achievement for me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Learning to coordinate all the different functions needed to produce an online course and run a website to provide the best possible experience for the customer.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Break your goals into smaller goals. And break these smaller goals into even smaller steps. But always have the flexibility to change them based on what you learn.
- Your communication is your greatest asset. Your business partners will treat you with the same degree of clarity and professionalism as you treat them.
- Find the sweet spot between being chaotic and creative and being organized and cautious.
