Evolve, Release, Transcend - Evolutionary Life
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alexis Nichelle, Founder of Evolutionary Life, LLC., located in Oklahoma City, OK, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a transformation specialist. I work with those who need restoration after brokenness and lack of direction. I have made a career out of uplifting and guiding people on a healing journey toward growth and a fulfilled life.
Evolutionary Life is a coaching and consulting company designed to create self-awareness, increase confidence, improve relationships, and help clients realize and tap into their life purpose. We equip our clients with the necessary tools to achieve their desired outcomes.
Our clients are women who are in a transitionary period in their lives. We serve as accountability partner and coach who holds their hand as they journey through self-discovery and transformation. We challenge our clients to step out of their comfort zone because in your comfort zone lies stagnation. We teach positive self-talk, self-care, setting boundaries, time management, overcoming imposter syndrome, and more.
Tell us about yourself
My mission is to speak life into those who need to be restored after brokenness and lack of direction. My job is uplift and guide people on a healing journey toward growth and a fulfilled life. I spent my twenties climbing the corporate ladder. I went from an entry-level position at a leading health organization to being the youngest and first black woman to head my department within the company. The acquisition of the company by a prominent Fortune 500 company led to the closing of our branch. I was heartbroken. I worked so hard to have the rug snatched from under me in the end. After working other jobs over the years, I decided I no longer wanted to work 40 or more hours each week to make someone else's dreams come true. I decided I wanted to live out my dreams and life purpose. As a result, Evolutionary Life was born.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have created a company rooted in helping people improve their lives. Being a part of another person's evolution is fulfilling. People define success in many different ways. My definition is making a lasting impact and being the person to others that I desperately needed on my journey.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The road to success as a business owner is often lonely. It's not lonely because you become too busy to sustain relationships but because everyone isn't meant to go with you on the journey. You may find that some of the people closest to you are your biggest distraction. When you can no longer stay out late because you have an early morning ahead of you, you find that these relationships no longer align with the life you are creating for yourself. How do you combat this? Find like-minded individuals to connect with who are on a similar journey.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Just Start/Build It While You Fly It: Make a plan and execute it. Remember that "done is better than perfect." When starting a new business, getting caught up in the details is easy. Delaying a launch to ensure everything is perfect can lead to a failure to launch. Don't let overthinking keep you stagnant. Value progress over perfection.
- Think Outside of the Box: Be a disruptor. Shake things up by going against the grain and standing out from the crowd. Consider what you bring to your industry that sets your business apart from others and emphasize it. Start a new process or create a new way to market and deliver your products to consumers.
- Collaboration Over Competition: There is room for everyone. Don't let the worry of what might appear to be an oversaturated industry deter you from starting a business or scare you away from interacting with competitors. When you are new in business, it is important to network. They say your network is your net worth. Consider leveraging your collaborators' audience, consumer base, and contacts to expand your reach and tap into a new market/audience. For example, collaborating with a realtor can create a funnel of potential clients if you are a mortgage broker or vice versa. Another example of this is two chefs collaborating on social media by preparing a dish together and sharing it on each of their platforms.
