Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Corryn Kivett, founder and owner of Evolution Room, located in San Diego, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
At Evolution Room, we are all about helping businesses evolve from the inside out, which means we help individuals step into and own their excellence so they can perform at their absolute best while doing work they love. My customers are entrepreneurs, business owners, and leaders who are forging their own path in the business world and want to expand their vision, purpose, and mission. These people value the importance of self-development and want to learn more about themselves, their clients, and those they work with so they can increase their sales and impact on the world.
Tell us about yourself
In 2018 I got the biggest wake-up call of my life, and it took the form of realizing I was 26 years old, built a successful career in corporate finance that looked really good on the outside, and felt extremely unfulfilling on the inside. While I was "chasing" success, I forgot who I truly was and what I truly wanted and fell into autopilot. I then took the biggest risk on myself and left my promising corporate career with zero plan, a ton of passion, and zero experience. I know that history repeats itself unless we learn the lessons, so I dove into personal development to get clear on who I wanted to be, what I wanted to create, and the business I wanted to run.
I got trained and certified in 2019 as a Neuro-Linguistics Programming Master Coach and Trainer and launched Evolution Room in 2020 to help other business professionals turn their passions into successful and thriving businesses. I am a firm believer we all have a purpose within us, and when you build a business in alignment with who you are, anything is possible.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating a six-figure coaching and in-person training company within 18 months with zero business or sales experience during a pandemic. Most importantly, helping other business owners triple their clientele and business during one of the hardest times in business.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Recognizing my own blindspots. It's actually impossible to do on our own, which is why I choose to surround myself with coaches and professionals that can help me see what I can't see, so I have fewer obstacles and challenges standing in my way.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Work with a coach (stop going at it alone), trust yourself and the part of you that's telling you your next move, and remember you only get this one life, so go all in you.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
If you can believe it, you can achieve it. All you need are the tools, resources, and environment to make it happen.
