What's your business, and who are your customers?
EveryWord Media is a full-service podcast production company that helps businesses, freelancers, and thought leaders produce value-based podcasts to grow the community, build brand awareness, and convert warm leads into loyal customers.
Tell us about yourself
I am Nick Chamberlain, a professional audio engineer with over seven years of experience in the field. I began my career in 2014, working as an audio engineer for a non-profit organization in San Diego, CA. In this role, I was responsible for engineering 10 hours of live radio per week, producing commercials, and editing and producing podcasts.
In 2018, my family began to grow, so I started to freelance audio production abilities, taking on various projects such as recording, mixing, and mastering for bands, capturing dialogue on film sets, and helping individuals launch their podcasts. Through my exposure to business podcasts and reading various business books, I developed my business skills and specialized in podcast production in 2020. With a growing family, my goal is to support them by utilizing my gifts and talents in the content marketing industry, continuously striving for excellence.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The year 2021 marked an impressive milestone for me as a business owner, generating $17,500 in revenue. However, in 2022, I exceeded that accomplishment by generating $94,000 in revenue. This was achieved while balancing the responsibilities of being a full-time father and a part-time business owner. While there is still room for growth in my business, I am proud to see the fruits of my labor and dedication paying off.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a solo operator in my business, I am faced with various tasks such as lead generation, sales calls, and mapping out the customer journey to ensure an optimal experience. The challenge lies in identifying and prioritizing the most crucial task to undertake on a daily basis that will drive business growth and acceleration.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Assess your current position in the marketplace and strive for excellence in that area. If you are just starting out, take on Fiverr or UpWork jobs as an opportunity to gain experience and hone your skills. Continuously level up to attract higher-paying clients and more significant opportunities. Invest in yourself by seeking out a business coach or connecting with a mentor who has achieved the level of success you desire. Learn from their experiences and strategies. Embrace a lifelong learning mindset, continuously expanding your knowledge and skillset to stay ahead in the industry and achieve greater success.
