Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fashion accessories but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ali Koehler, founder of Eugenia Kids, located in Glendale, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I set out to make a business for weird moms and cool aunts who love color and maybe still pop into Claire’s even though they’re 35.
Tell us about yourself
Last year my dad found a savings bond worth $200 that my grandma had given to me for my first Christmas. She passed when I was 13, and I have been struggling with it since, so I knew I wanted to invest the money into something meaningful. I decided a side business was the move. When I was laid off in October 2021, I decided to go all in and make it work full time.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
There isn’t one accomplishment as much as many little ones that are so exciting whenever they crop up. My business is currently mostly wholesale, and every time I get into a new shop that I love and respect, I’m so excited.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Have faith in yourself that you are smart and scrappy and can navigate uncharted waters.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Done is better than perfect.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Keep an eye out cause we have so much up our proverbial sleeve.
