What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is custom drinkware, home decor, and more! Based on the variety I am able to offer, I have a wide range of customers from young children up to seniors!
Tell us about yourself
I suffer from anxiety and have always worked well kinesthetically (working with my hands). I saw some snow globe tumblers online and thought to myself, "Hey, I can make those!" and became hooked with the process, and from there, it grew.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I know that many businesses tend to base their success on profit or income. Personally, I base it on how happy I can make my customers. Knowing how many customers' visions I have brought to life through drinkware or custom gifts makes me happy.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Personally, I find pricing one of the hardest things for small business owners. I almost feel that I have to give an explanation for each customer because many individuals don't recognize all that goes into handmade items (time + materials + profit). Because of this, I lowball my time and profit for many of my items in order to attract customers.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure it's something you love.
- Be prepared for the amount of time, energy, and lack of sleep it will come with!
- Have fun! At the end of the day, you're doing it for yourself - make sure you don't lose your passion!
