Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Anne Gould-Ruete, Owner of Envision Neuro Wellness, located in North Chelmsford, MA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a health coach and physical therapist who helps people with Parkinson's Disease and other chronic conditions to make healthy habit changes in order to live their most healthy lives.
Tell us about yourself
I have been a physical therapist since 2006 and have been a Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist since 2011. I have been specializing in working with people with Parkinson's since 2014 and am a certified LSVT BIG and PWR!Moves Therapist.
Over the past 17 years of working as a PT and the past nine working with people with Parkinson's, I have developed a great appreciation for the impact and importance of healthy lifestyle habits on the quality of life and overall health of people. Everyone hears from their doctors and the media about how important it is to eat right and exercise, but there is no support system in the traditional medical model to help people actually make those changes in their lives. In addition, people underestimate the health impacts of sleep, social connection, and being able to contribute to their families and communities. I am passionate about helping people to take control of the aspects of their lives so that they are able to help them manage their symptoms and live their best lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is recognizing and filling the gaps between the traditional medical model and the ability of people to make meaningful health habit changes.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing is that health coaching is not a well-known service. It is not common for people to understand what health coaching is and how it can be effective in supporting their lives.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- When you see a gap in what is currently offered and what people need, search for ways that you can fill that gap.
- Be brave in providing a service in your business that is not well understood.
- Make connections and network with as many people who know your ideal client as possible.
