What's your business, and who are your customers?
Enondra Beauty is a naturally based hair care line that will accentuate your crown, enhancing your natural hair journey. We believe that products for all hair types are not for locs, and products made for locs are for all hair types. So we created an all-inclusive line of products that are naturally made for people with locs, textured hair, and other hair types.
Tell us about yourself
I started my Loc journey over ten years ago. At that time, when I started growing my locs, it was a misunderstood hairstyle by some people. There was a stigma and stereotype about having locs. It wasn’t very acceptable to the mainstream culture when I started my journey. When social media came around, I created an Instagram page showing the versatility of locs and how to take care of your hair. My goal was to show women how to wear their natural hair unapologetically. So, in 2020 during the pandemic, when people had no choice but to do their hair at home, my mother and I decided to create my own product line. One thing that motivates me is creating products that encourage people to embrace who they are naturally.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
A big accomplishment was getting our product in a store, especially within a year of launching. However, I would say the biggest accomplishment was launching Enondra Beauty. I think people underestimate what it takes to go from idea to execution.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is managing your time, having a job, running a business, and having a life. It’s hard if you don’t have a team starting off with, which is in my case as of right now. My team consists of two people, so we are tasked with many hats; we do everything.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Believe in yourself and your ideas. Understand that this is your dream and not everyone will believe in it, and that’s ok! It is your dream!
- I think it is important to research the industry you would like to go into and learn as much as you can about it.
- I also think it is very important to trademark your brand before you launch.
