Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cory Martin, CEO of Enlightened Eco Solutions, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My company is called Enlightened Eco Solutions. We are a climate-focused eco lab that unites industry experts to develop solutions that will positively impact all life on our planet.

Our customers range from public citizens who just want a better world to international businesses and governments. It will depend on the concept that we are working on, but it will benefit everyone in the end.

Tell us about yourself

My journey towards climate change and all the problems surrounding it began in 2013 for me when Hurricane Sandy destroyed my hometown in southern New Jersey. From that point on, I was involved in numerous charities and even produced my own charity events.

But it was not until COVID-19 when my past company, Martin & Vanegas Agency, was negatively affected by the lack of work which gave me the time I needed to rethink my life and purpose here on our planet. This was when I knew I needed to make a change in my life. Today, I am inspired and motivated by both the unfortunate tragedies we witness all too often as well as all of the magical life that surrounds us each day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I am grateful for all the incredible accomplishments I have had over my 17-year career. I am grateful for all the clients that I was able to work with, from Rolls Royce to President Obama. But the accomplishment that I am most grateful for is how much I have learned from others.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Life is full of challenges, especially if you are a business owner, but one of the best lessons I learned over time was there is ALWAYS a solution. It's all about how you approach the problem, how you perceive it, and how determined you are at solving it. I like to collaborate with the team since I learn from them and love seeing the different approaches in solving any challenge. Sometimes we just get in our head too much and can't see the solution right in front of us.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Always be positive even in the most challenging moments.
  2. Follow your heart.
  3. Be generous. The more you give, the more you will receive. This divine rule applies to anything from food to love to money.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Never give up.
