What's your business, and who are your customers?
At Engage Therapy and Wellness, we provide physical, speech, and occupational therapy to help people with neurological conditions such as Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Concussion, and Dizziness improve their lives. We offer in-person and telehealth services along with wellness classes.
Tell us about yourself
I am Liz Yates Horton, a physical therapist who specializes in working with individuals with neurological conditions. I am the founder of Engage Therapy and Wellness in Syracuse, NY. After seeing the limited resources in our community for those with these conditions, I was inspired to build Engage. I am motivated every day by the impactful changes we can help make in someone's life so they can be more independent and live their best life!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to provide access to excellent care for so many in our community who are managing and living with neurological conditions and dizziness.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Wearing all the hats of the business is the most challenging aspect of owning a business. I split my day between seeing clients, mentoring staff, and running the business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be really clear on your why, seek resources in your community to help you learn how to start and run a business, and put together a team (lawyer, accountant, etc.) who can help guide you through the different stages of business development.
