Empathy, Creativity, and Communication - ENGAGE Teams 360
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Vital Germaine, President of ENGAGE Teams 360, located in Henderson, NV, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I have a consulting business. My clients range from Fortune 100 to small businesses.
Tell us about yourself
The journey began in a totally different industry. I was once an acrobat/team captain with Cirque du Soleil for over five years. After a career-ending injury, I started my first business, a production company that created upscale entertainment experiences for corporate events. After ten years, a challenging economy, and burnout, I stepped away, spending the next two years trying to find and understand my new mission/purpose.
I was introduced to public speaking by chance and loved it. It was now a question of developing content that could bring value to organizations, leaders, and individuals. I leveraged my experiences regarding achieving excellence, from my years in Cirque du Soleil, as an event producer/director/choreographer... and my years as a soccer player with the National Youth Team of Belgium. These rich experiences helped me create messaging that was informative, entertaining, and inspirational. The desire to inspire others, something I had always been doing since childhood without actually understanding it, remained the drive and the purpose. Now that I understand my calling, it has become easier to lean into my strengths.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest achievement was the courage to start my first business. It was an honor to provide endless entertainers with work. It's a very fulfilling feeling. We had the pleasure of creating many large-scale events for Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies like AT&T, Adobe, NBA, NBC, and Hearst Corporation.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
All responsibility and accountability are on your own shoulders. It involves wearing endless hats, failing, learning, growing, and achieving. There are sleepless nights and moments of great celebration. I wouldn't trade it off for the routing and security of a 9-5.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have a clear sense of purpose (vision/mission), as this is the fuel that will get you through the storms and darkness.
- Be knowledgeable and adaptable. Curveballs are inevitable, and creativity saves the day. Strive to provide great value to your customers by being empathetic, memorable, and impactful. Understand your chosen market, and know what your value proposition is, along with your differentiator.
