Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tom Neher, Founder of Empowerment Coaching LLC, located in Rochester, MN, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a coach, and I work with men going through significant life transitions-empowering men recovering from damaged relationships. Being a man is confusing, stressful, and sometimes overwhelming in today's fast-paced world. The pressures of being a high achiever, financially successful, balancing personal and family relationships, and dealing with difficult life transitions are just some of the issues we are not always prepared to handle. Many of the problems that men face go unaddressed because it is uncomfortable or challenging to find the right person who is trustworthy and can help. I offer a safe and confidential place where men can address their personal and professional issues.
Tell us about yourself
I am an accomplished Senior Executive with more than 30 years of success across the corporate world. My global experience has a broad perspective that yields insightful and creative solutions. My expertise includes coaching, building relationships, strategic planning, communication skills, and leadership development.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I guide those searching to align their values, goals, and dreams. I am a trusted coach, empowering clients to discover their wisdom, strengths, and mission. I meet clients where they are on their life journey and guide them as they find direction to optimize their lives at home and in their business environment.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
A man will keep his stress or pain to himself, mostly finding a way to numb the pain. A man will not seek help until his arm is nearly cut off and dangling by a tendon, or his spouse delivers him an ultimatum to get help for his depression, or they will leave him. The man will finally figure out how much a divorce will cost him. At this point, a man will understand that the cost of getting help is much less than he can lose from a divorce.
The loss of financial assets and the relationships with his spouse, children, friends, and family is more costly than taking the chance to get some help.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Provide a product or service that solves a painful challenge for the client or customer, a solution for what keeps them awake at night.
- Make sure that your product or service is something people are willing to buy.
- Only borrow money for things that will generate income.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
