What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a hand-poured organic soy-based candle company with scents catered to today's most popular colognes and perfumes. Inspired by such bold scents as Creed Adventus, Dior Sauvage, and Gucci Guilty (coming soon)...to more calming scents as Dolce Gabbana Light Blue and Tom Ford Black Orchid. We are the only candle company that allows your home to smell as good as you do! We are one of the very few candle companies that also cater to the men that love to relax after a stressful day and would love to light candles. Our candles are designed for our Kings and Queens!

Tell us about yourself

Eminence Candle Scents was created in the midst of the pandemic. As the owner of Phoenix Speaks Cosmetics, my business was brought to an abrupt halt when COVID-19 hit the world. I was sitting on materials with no way of getting my product to my customers. Then, one magical day, while reorganizing my business supplies, I came up with the bright idea of producing candles with the abundance of wax I had on hand. As COVID-19 continued to ravage the world, a simple act of lighting a candle at home brought me peace to what was starting to feel like a fortress. At that point, I knew everyone needed to find some type of peace in this chaos, and I knew exactly how to do it.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment thus far has been being able to create products that others truly love. A product that creates such a peaceful atmosphere during a time of such chaos and turmoil. A product that presents a sense of relaxation after a stressful day. To know I was able to create that for someone physically is beyond fulfilling.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things I have encountered as a business owner is finding a happy balance between work and business. It is sometimes difficult to find the energy to arrive home and get right back to work, especially after a long day in healthcare. I read somewhere, "If you devote 8 hours to a corporation, you can devote that you!"

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Find something that you are passionate about, or at the very least, have a significant interest in doing/producing/selling. It will never feel like a job if you do.
Find a business niche where there is a need for it, but with a little twist to it. For instance, there are several candle companies out there, but I decided to include fragrances that you would not normally find anywhere.
Do not let Social Media deter you away from your dreams. Most people only show the "good" in regards to their business. No one starts out the gate selling thousands of dollars in products in their first month. It will take blood, sweat, and tears, but go at your own pace!

Eminence Candle Scents will be launching a new King and Queen scent this month. Not to mention, we have delved into the Sugar Scrub pool and will be launching those products very soon!
