Healthy Habits Made Simple - Emily Marquis
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Emily Marquis, Certified Clinical Health & Wellness Coach based in Salida, CO, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Clinical Health & Wellness Coach, Professor, & Yoga/Mindfulness Instructor. I serve anyone who is ready to take steps to create healthy habits in their life to bridge from where they are at now to their ideal health & well-being. I am passionate about health coaching and work with students to become health coaches. I work with many on reducing stress and increasing movement & mind-body connection through yoga and meditation. I work with kids/teens through older adults.
Tell us about yourself
I started working in the field in 2011 after receiving my first health & wellness coaching certificate. I was an HR professional seeing employees struggle with their health and also went through many health challenges myself. I strongly believe in the power of health coaching and yoga to support people in making sustainable changes to reduce and prevent chronic illness because we all deserve to feel well.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I love being an entrepreneur. I have a private practice along with a balance of contracts that keep my creativity open. I feel balanced in my time and work. I feel that I am a leader in the field, which will only help serve more people in this excellent line of work.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
A continuous evolution. In this day and age, we must continuously evolve who we are and how we operate. Technology and marketing change fast, and it can be overwhelming. I always try to stay who I am and stick to a few paths, but it can be challenging at times.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Define your values and who you are and stick with that...always.
- There is no get rich quick gig. Everything takes hard work, dedication, growth, money, grit, and resilience.
- Take care of yourself. Hard work is important, but long hours mean nothing if you aren't well. You're much more productive when you feel well!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Have fun and be creative! When you're curious and open, there are no failures...just lessons. Always begin again.
