Wild Rose Therapeutics - Emily Davis

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Emily Davis, Owner of Wild Rose Therapeutics, located in Herndon, VA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Wild Rose Therapeutics is a health & wellness company. It's my mission to improve my community's quality of life by bringing people back to themselves. I offer massage therapy, yoga therapy, functional fitness, corporate wellness services, and retreats. I love working with beginners and people who struggle with chronic pain.

Tell us about yourself

I've worked in the health and wellness industry for about seven years. The idea of running my own business had always been in the back of my head. I knew I was in the right field, but my vision wasn't 100% aligning with the companies I was a part of. When COVID hit, I was furloughed, and I started building my dream - little by little. Having autonomy in my programming and offerings these days reaffirms my choice to take the leap. I am so lucky to do what I do every day and feel like I am truly living in my purpose. Seeing the transformation in my clients, again and again, keeps me going.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment so far is running a yoga retreat in Colombia this past January! It was a dream come true to travel, be immersed in nature, and connect deeper with my community. My business partner and I already plan to go back in October. I can't wait!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Sometimes the trial and error process can be draining for a new business owner. I'm a one-woman show, so I'm constantly trying to find a dynamic work/life balance.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just start! You don't have to be certain to be confident. If your gut is telling you that this is the right move - do it.
  2. Automate as many systems as possible. For my industry, a scheduling app has been a lifesaver. It gives me time back, and my clients like being able to book appointments at their convenience.
  3. Find a mentor. There are people in every field that want to start or grow your business. Take advantage of their wisdom!
