Integrative Healing Services - Embodied Energy Healing
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Yaicha Bryan, founder of Embodied Energy Healing, located in Denver, CO, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Embodied Energy Healing provides individualized integrative healing services. When someone is looking to begin their healing journey, they are often unsure where to begin - this can feel overwhelming. This is why we teach and guide our clients through multiple modalities and techniques to find what works and resonates best in each body - realizing that this will also likely change throughout the journey. This is why we feel it is so important to provide individualized sessions and plans for each client. Although we help humans with various issues, a major focus in our practice is trauma healing and release.
Tell us about yourself
I have been working in inpatient medicine as a physician assistant for eight years, previous to that, I was in healthcare for another seven (so a total of fifteen years). A few things motivated me to pivot. One was the feeling of 'throwing a medication' at a symptom or a disease process to manage it but never getting to the root of it - never eliminating it. This started to feel futile. Within that, over the past 15 or so years, more research was published regarding the role of trauma/unregulated nervous system in the development of disease later in life - especially in women. Lastly, becoming ill myself and not being able to be helped by the health care system I had served in for so long was the final straw.
My background before medicine was in dance, yoga, and movement, and a huge part of healing myself was coming home to these modalities. As I started to heal myself, I tried everything out there - and eventually started integrating the most successful and well-researched of these modalities into my Reiki practice with clients. As the research has shown us, trauma/past life events become imprinted in many levels in the body (including cellular/muscle/fascia), which is why approaching it from multiple angles creates better outcomes.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Building the business has undoubtedly led me to trust and know myself more deeply, and I am forever grateful for that. The biggest accomplishment for me is seeing my clients progress and heal. Facilitating sessions where I witness the release of pain or past trauma is to me more rich than any financial success I could ever achieve.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I never realized how much the business would be a direct reflection of me. A mentor once told me that "starting your own business will magnify the parts of yourself you struggle most with" - I found this incredibly true. The parts of myself that I was most unsure about or sensitive about became magnified in this setting. What you may be able to run from facing in your personal life, you may not be able to in the process of creating a business that reflects you.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't keep doing what you are doing out of fear. If you are feeling pulled to start something and get off the hamster wheel, do it. You'll either do it willingly now when you have the energy to do so or...end up doing it later after burnout of mind and or body forces you to seek another path. I know this sounds harsh, but I 100 percent believe it.
- Trust yourself! Of course, do your due diligence, but there is something to be said for trusting what you intuitively know, even if you don't yet 100% understand.
- Embrace every opportunity. Even if an event itself doesn't seem like it will be fruitful, you never know who you may meet or where something will go. Some of my most successful opportunities have come up almost unexpectedly. Always be alert to those opportunities - they may whisper rather than yell!
