What's your business, and who are your customers?
Virtual Support Gal, LLC helps increase your online presence while handling the tech back-end systems needed for a business to function. I work with many in the health and wellness fields, as well as Podcasters, Coaches, and Speakers.
Tell us about yourself
I remember coming home from middle school and working on my first website, which was on AOL Hometown! I've always had a love for the online world. This was a hobby for many years. After attending Quinnipiac University, I worked in marketing and tech support and eventually launched my business in 2007. I started out as a website developer. My services quickly changed over the years as I grew through word of mouth. My clients started asking for marketing support such as SEO, newsletters, and general website maintenance, so I expanded and ditched the development.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I've grown a bit each year, and I am now almost at six figures!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The fluctuation of work. It's a rollercoaster! I'm either so busy that I don't have time for lunch, or it's quiet, and I have a few hours to relax. I wouldn't change it for the world.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't give up! It's hard work but very rewarding.
- You'll have to grow your business, and that can be tough. Plan to attend network meetings and talk with as many people as you can.
- Niche down. Focus on a specific group of customers. Do your research and see what people need help with.
