Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Elisa Boyd, founder of Elisajenks - Digital Wellness, located in Calgary, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Digital Wellness is a digital marketing hub that offers done-with-you and done-for-you services. We craft Holistic Marketing strategies that are rooted in your business values so you can get back to some work-life wellness. We do this through social media, email marketing, and sale funnel creation.

Tell us about yourself

I am a mother, wife, and 30 something year old trying to figure it all out. I love all things design and digital marketing in the wellness world. My knowledge comes from real-life experiences while starting and running my own company Juice Because. It was through this venture that I have learned the ins and outs of social media and digital marketing. And let's be honest, how to pick yourself back up after "failure."

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is actually a bunch of small accomplishments that have led me to now owning my dream business doing what I love every day!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Deciding you won't take no for an answer. When you have your own business, you are going to be told no and have things go wrong all the time. Being able to figure things out and continue to move forward will be the most important skill you have.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't recreate the wheel. There is probably someone already doing something similar to what you are doing. Don't copy what they are doing but use it as a framework and inspiration to help create your business.
  2. Find a mentor or coach! I wish I had done this from day one, but having a mentor or coach can help you see things through a different lens.
  3. Get a good accountant! At the end of the day, we go into business to make money. We need to make money so we can continue to help people. Knowing your numbers is super important.
