Cultivating Sustainable Transformations - Elia Madera
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Elia Madera, founder of In My Sustainable World by Elia Madera, located in Downey, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is helping people transform their lives from the inside out. We focus on the trilogy of well-being, and that is mental, emotional, and physical wellness. Seeking and obtaining a life transformation is no easy feat. It requires a lot of courage, commitment, and self-compassion. My ideal customers are individuals or groups (community or corporations) that have a deep desire to transform their lives for the better. They are ready to take that first step, courageous enough to walk the path, and have and hold a vision of what they truly desire.
Tell us about yourself
I was someone that constantly struggled to manage my emotions and live my life for myself. I often tried to please or impress others, which led to me feeling like I was on a never-ending chase. For years I tried yoga, meditation, and different spiritual groups to help me find what I was looking for, and although I did see results, they never really seemed to stick around. It wasn't until I experienced major emotional turmoil, like the majority of the world did in 2020, that I felt like I had hit rock bottom and desperately needed to gain control of my life. I took a trip with some friends to work remotely from a beach town in Mexico, and while I was there, I was introduced to many healing methods. One of them was Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT). After I experienced RTT, I was able to make connections between my presenting problems to memories and visions I had from my past. These memories and visions were very emotionally charged, and the feeling of them transported me to my childhood, feeling hopeless and helpless. Through RTT, I was able to connect things better, reframe my beliefs, and transform my thoughts and habitual responses in the present day. That was the first time I experienced a healing method that actually had sustainable results.
The impact of RTT was so profound for me that I decided to study RTT, quit my job, and move to Mexico to begin my own wellness business. I have a solid spiritual foundation, and I practice meditation and yoga, and now I notice their effects more in my day-to-day life. After clearing my unstable foundation and building a new one through RTT, the perks and benefits of other methods actually stick around long term for me. The major transformation (and upgrade) I've experienced in my life inspired me to help people who have a deep desire to transform their lives as well. I wake up, and I go to sleep in gratitude because I am doing what I love. I am grateful because I am inspired and motivated, and I am inspired and motivated because I am grateful (it's a cycle of bliss).
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Learning to walk alongside my fear. I have to say that I didn't do a lot of things in the past because of fear. I had the idea of starting a business for many years, and I just didn't dare to do so because I was afraid of failing. And then I came to terms with the fact that if I failed, I failed. I wasn't going to be the first person in history to fail at something. So, I propelled myself into the unknown world of entrepreneurship as an act of trust and faith that if it was meant to work out, it would. I have a grand vision for my business, and I enjoy every step of the journey as I get to where I envision myself because we are meant to enjoy the journey and not just try to rush to the finish line. My biggest takeaway has been to do things despite being afraid, and my biggest accomplishment was taking that first step, and the step after, and the step after that.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I have to say the uncertainty because everything fluctuates. Sometimes there is a lot of work, and other times there is none. Sometimes there is a lot of income flow, and other times there is none. It requires a lot of faith and vision to move forward, trusting that things will work out as they are meant to. I see this as a good challenge for us to be more intuitive and creative in finding ways to continue moving forward.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Start TODAY! Even if you are still working elsewhere, start to brainstorm and create a vision, create an action plan, and take one action every day that will contribute to your business venture. Bonus tip, have a lot of trust in the universe and follow your intuition!
